These photos were taken around Thanksgiving. Lucy woke up so swollen she could hardly open her eyes, certainly her peripheral vision was gone. We were in Silverthorne at the time. Sunday we called Lucy's vet up there, Dr. Mark Cowan and he said he would meet us at his office if she got worse. 6 Benadryl tablets later she was a bit better. By Monday she was much better and by he middle of the we she was completely better. Then Thanksgiving morning she was swollen on her right cheek, right below her eye. That's when we took the 1st photo. We took her to the vet and he thought she had been bitten by a spider and the poison had a chance to re-energize. He gave her a steroid shot and she was on 6 Benadryl for the next 3 days. We just got home from Illinois and that lump is still there on her cheek, much like the 1st photo. Steve took her back to the vet this morning and now she has an abscess tooth!! When I went to give her a hug Wednesday night I was so shocked at how bad her breath smelled, now we know why! I just talked to Wendy, who watched Lucy while we were gone and she said they had noticed that her breath smelled really bad but she didn't say anything to us. She was relieved to hear it wouldn't be a permanent situation. :-)
