Shrine Ridge hike with the ladies

This particular hike is very popular this time of the year for all of the wildflowers, particularly the many varieties of Indian Paint Brushes. The leader of this weekly hike with the ladies, Tammy, picked it for that reason. In the 3rd photo is Mary Ellen Gilliland, a well know author in Summit County. She has written "The Summit Hiker" and "The Vail Hiker" as well as many books on the history of Summit County. It is always a special treat when she is able to join us on our hikes as we always learn new things and get a little history lesson as we go. It is a very special hiking trail to me. So special I went back and hiked it again 2 days later. More photos to follow. Tammy found this beautiful meadow of flowers off the trail to enjoy our lunches before heading back down.
